Are you a stalker? Or just a tutor?

Are you a stalker?

Do you regularly follow people, groups, or brands online?

Do you subscribe to their Facebook pages, twitter feeds, or blogs?

If so you probably know more about those individuals or groups than you know about most of the other people you associate with.

Then you my friend are a stalker.

You readily absorb the juicy tidbits of information flowing from those data feeds…and why not…they are there…readily displayed for all to read.

Your students are stalkers to. Maybe even more so.

If you want to be the best tutor you can be, find out who they are stalking.

Do a little watching and listening of your own.

You might be surprised how easily you can begin to relate to your students on their own “wavelength”.

And that turns you from a stalker into one dang good tutor.

Teachers and tutors who can relate to students at their level (and at the same time maintain their professional standard) make the best impact on students.

How do I know?

Cause I spend my time listening, too.

Do you have what it takes to tutor?

Ever ask yourself if you’ve got what it takes?

I sure have.

“Do I have what it takes to teach?”

To tutor. To build a website. To run a business…

…to be a husband, to be a dad.

Chances are you have asked yourself similar questions.

Except we don’t usually use those words exactly.

What We Really Mean

Instead of asking, “Do I have what it takes to start a tutoring business?”, we say, “Wouldn’t it be great to start a tutoring business?”

Or even, “I think I am going to start a tutoring business.”

But underneath that statement wer are really asking ourselves if we have what it takes.

Why don’t we ask our self outright?

  • FEAR.
  • DOUBT.
  • NEGATIVE THOUGHTS.

Each of these thoughts stops us right in our tracks…so naturally we use the terrific strategy of avoiding the question altogether!

So do you have it in you?

What is the best time to start a tutoring business?

What is the best time to start a tutoring business?

To answer that, think about the old saying that the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago.

And the second best time is today.

So what is the best time to start a tutoring business?

My answer?

At least least 3 months ago.

Think about it for a second…

Let’s assume that it is the start of the school year.

You have the idea to start a tutoring business–I think that’s an awesome idea.

So you get together some business cards, start talking to everyone you know (networking), and otherwise get all your “stuff” together.

Suddenly you realize it’s taking you some time to find some clients and they aren’t just materializing out of thin air…

…nope, clients don’t just appear cause you had a great idea to tutor.

So now you (quite wisely) start to do the groundwork of working to build up your client list and create a list of clients that love your amazing tutoring skills and (even better) you utilize some SSMM (super stealth marketing mojo) to retain those clients for months or even years to come.

Wow, you’re busy!

But you get results.

And lets say all that hard work takes 3 months to fill up your schedule, maybe even 6.

Hey, Google wasn’t successful overnight either…

So now it’s December or February, and you are just now rockin’ and rolling.

Just think if you had hit the ground running in September…

…which begs the question,

What would you have to do to start a tutoring business in September?

Well….you have to do the same steps as above…you just have to get them started in May or June.

Badda bing, badda boom….now you’re starting the school year with your very own tutoring business and parents and students are lovin’ ya.

”Where the heck did you come from and why weren’t you here when my oldest son needed you?”

Trust me, that’s what they’ll say.

So what’s the best time to start a tutoring business?

At least 3 months ago. Better yet, 6 months.

But what’s the next best time?

TODAY.

Look ahead three to six months from now.

Imagine yourself having a full tutoring schedule, and making way more than minimum wage, all when you want.

Or you can just work for someone else, making less, and have to go to work when they put you on the schedule.

Your choice…

But ya gotta think ahead.
